One of my favorite places for lunch is a bakery is tucked into a back corner of the Village Center on Anderson Lane–San Francisco Bakery & Cafe. Their baker gets up at 4:00 a.m. every day so that they can use fresh baked bread for their sandwiches and soup bowls and I’m grateful for the effort. They do a wide variety of sandwiches but my favorites are the two vegetarian sandwiches–avocade or eggplant. Great hot soups for a cold, rainy day too. I’ve found myself stopping by there to pick up croissants or bread for a party (go early the popular croissants such as the ones filled with dark chocolate disappear quickly). The service can be a bit quirky depending on who’s on the counter and they have done silly things like charge an extra quarter for a dab of jelly but overall great value, great food, and if you get to know them good service.
