Where to Play Pickleball in Austin
There are many places to play pickleball in Austin. Here are a few of the most popular spots:
- Austin Tennis Center: This facility has eight lighted pickleball courts with permanent nets, a pro shop, and lessons. If you want to develop your skills, you can take advantage of the pickleball league or available lessons. Use TeamReach app with the code “ATCPickleball” to register.
- Austin Parks and Recreation Department: Eleven public court sites are scattered across town, and you don’t need to make any reservations or pay a dime to use them. Plus, if you’re worried about the heat, some of the courts, like the ones at South Austin Recreation Center, Dittmar Recreation Center,, Gus Garcia Recreation Center, Hancock Recreation Center, and the Northwest Recreation Center, are indoor, so you can play comfortably no matter what the weather’s like outside. Just check the hours before you head out so you don’t miss out on any pickleball action! - Little Zilker Neighborhood Park: 2 outdoor courts shared with tennis courts, net not provided, first come, first serve

- The Pitch: Right next to Parmer Field, you’ll find The Pitch, which has two courts that you can reserve for free. In addition, there’s one court that’s open to the public. If you don’t have your paddle, don’t worry – you can rent one. Plus, The Pitch has four restaurants and two bars on-site where you can grab a bite to eat or a drink after your game.
- Bouldin Acres: Bouldin Acres patrons can rent one of the restaurant’s two pickleball courts in half-hour increments:
- Austin Pickle Ranch: This private club has 16 pickleball courts, a restaurant, and a bar (opening in 2023).

If you are new to pickleball, there are a few things you need to know. First, you need to get your hands on a paddle and some balls. You can buy these at most sporting goods stores. Second, you need to find a court to play on. There are many courts available in Austin, both public and private. Third, you need to find a partner or group to play with.
