Hold that Pizza or throw it? – Double Dave’s is Double Trouble…
I would like to send in our story of the horrible
encounter and service we received at the Double Dave’s
Pizzaworks on 2431 Bay Area Blvd, Houston, Texas
(Clear Lake Area) today, 6/23/05. My 2 children and I
went to pick my husband up from work to take him to
lunch. We were all craving pizza and decided to go to
the Double Dave’s Pizzaworks on Bay Area. During
lunchtime at Double Dave’s they serve a buffet lunch
of pizza or usually you can just order your own pizza,
which is what we have done in the past. Well on the
this day we received horrible service. My husband
goes to the food bar to place our order – there was an
older lady taking orders. He asked her for 2 of the 1
trip salads = $2.50 each, 2 cokes = $1.50 each, 2
waters, and 1 cheese pizza = $14.99. That seemed easy
right??? wrong…the lady did NOT know how to put in
that order – she was totally confused and said we have
get the buffet pizzas. We told her we did not want
the buffet as our kids ONLY eat the cheese pizzas and
no cheese pizzas were on the buffet. You
wouldn’t think this would be a problem for a pizza
house. But you cannot obviously order a regular pizza
here anymore. She then called the owner over and he
was very irritated and quickly snapped at us for
wanting to order a pizza and not taking what was
provided on the buffet, (which isn’t anything we
wanted to begin with). They should have a sign that
says we ONLY have buffet, you cannot order a pizza
here. The man then proceeded to ring up 1 all you can
eat salad = $3.50 and 2 cokes, 2 waters, and the
$14.99 pizza then immediately and rudely walked
off…my husband called out to him several times
saying “Sir, I do not want the $3.50 salad – I need 2
of the 1 trip salads” but was ignored and the clerk
lady that was very incompetent then argued, “well you
got your salad.” My husband then tried to explain to
her that he did not want the $3.50 all you can eat
salad but need 2 of the $2.50 salads…I know this
sounds petty and it is as this gets unbelievable. She
then hands my husband 2 salad plates, 4 pizza plates,
2 coke cups and 2 water cups – so he thinks maybe she
finally understood…right? WRONG – my husband and I
both go up to get our salads and cokes and the kids
waters and sit down to eat our salads, when the old
lady from the register walks over and takes my
husband’s salad away from him and loudly exclaims “you
did NOT pay for that salad, but you only paid for 1
salad!” in front of the whole restaurant and our
children. We then, terribly embarrassed, got up and
went to speak to the owner and tried to explain our
situation. I was very ANGRY by this point and had
lost my appetite and wanted no more to do with that
place, asked for a credit, and told them we would
gladly pay the extra 0.50 cents for the difference in
the salads that they mishandled in the first place.
The owner was very rude and said we have to take the
pizza as it now coming out of the oven. My kids and I
walked out and my husband came out with the pizza in a
to go box – we put it in the trash bin outside that
pizza place. I then called on my cell phone inside
and told them “Thank you for ruining our family
luncheon and cannot believe they would treat customers
in this manner.” The manager was extremely rude and
arrogant (once again) and said “I don’t see the big
deal!” I then asked to speak to the owner, Dennis
Johnson and he was also very rude and kept saying “ask
your husband what he ordered, what is on the ticket?”
(Basically calling customers liars!) My husband then
tried to explain again to him that he tried to rectify
the situation but the old lady was too incompetent to
take the order correctly and did not understand what I
was asking for. My husband also tried to make him
understand that she couldn’t even put the pizza order
in right and had to interrupt him to come put in the
order. But to no avail owner did not care that he
just lost customers over this 0.50 difference that his
incompetent employee did not know how to compute. We
called our credit card company to get a breakdown of
what was actually ordered as the clerk did not even
give us a detailed receipt of what was ordered – we
were only given the credit card receipt that shows how
much we were charged. We told the representative at
our credit card company the story and she could not
believe it either. Yes, the clerk did charge for 1
all you eat salad at $3.50 and 2 cokes and 2 waters
and 1 pizza at $14.99, but when you ask for 2 salads
at $2.50 – what is so difficult about that? My kids
were also very upset and asked why these people were
being so ugly to us? And all I could say is “there
are a lot of mean people in this world that don’t
always do what is right. You have to try to be better
then them.” We were given no kind of apology but were
talked to very rudely and offensively. The tone and
actions clearly state the customer is not important at
the Double Daves Pizzaworks on 2431 Bay Area Blvd.
Their motto is “We’re always rolling!” that is the
truth – rolling out with horrible customer service!
And over a $.50 difference in a transaction shows the
where their mentality lies. I think it should be made
known to the general public do NOT go to Double Daves
for Pizza in Clear Lake – all you will get is DOUBLE
TALK!
Thank you for taking to time to hear our encounter.
We appreciate your help.
Sincerely,
Very Upset, to NEVER return, patron.
